How can I find a lawyer in new york city that is really good in cases concerning Police Brutality?
Kumosaki asked:
I have a lawyer now that is not charging me, and is not progressing in my case at all. All I get is court date after court date without the trial starting. It’s been 10 months now since the incident and no trial started yet.

Well you get what you pay for. Being in NYC we have lots of options…just call around – there’s a lawyer on every block

10 months is nothing in a case like that. Expect to have the pre-trial stuff take years. what does your attorney tell yo is the reason? s/he should be setting your expecations reasonably – maybe they do not realize you are not clear on the overall process and likely schedule? Nothing wrong with asking for clarification.
OTOH, if you are not paying the attorney, and they arenot on some sort of contingency, then expect that work to be lowest priority. They have bills to pay you know! If it is immportant to you, then pay for the services, and prepare ways to have the other party re-imburse at some point.
Research news accounts of previous police brutality cases in NYC. Surely the names of the attorneys are mentioned.
Then use google and your yellow pages to find them.
