How can I find out a lawyer’s credentials?

I’d like to find out if the lawyer my realestate agent is recommending is a good lawyer.

   check with the state Bar of your state. They should be able to tell you whether the attorney is in good standing or has ever been disciplined by the State Bar.

   Also, do an internet search of the lawyer’s name and see what comes up. A peek at the Better Business bureau website can’t hurt either.
